When Jane Larson, a litigator for a large firm in New York City, agrees to take on a case when asked by a friend, she had no idea what she was getting herself into. She takes on a divorce case where the father is deemed a “dead beat dad” who has not paid his child support. What seems like a cut and dry case, turns into a nightmare for Jane. She soon learns that not everything or everyone is as they seem. The dead beat dad in question has ties to drugs, lies, and murder. Soon Jane is being threatened and the bodies begin to pile up. Jane is soon being hunted by a murderer after a hidden suitcase of cash.

For starters, I did not figure out who the killer was. This is HUGE for me! I love when I cannot figure out who the bad guy is and I am surprised by the outcome. This book surprised me!!! Two thumbs up for that! There are a lot of characters and ever single one of them could be a suspect. Each character had some suspicious behavior which made me scratch my head and think “maybe she is the killer” or “I bet he is the bad guy”. The Authors definitely wove (bad play on words) their plot so that it had many twists and turns that left me guessing.

I enjoyed the main character. She is ballsy. She is an intelligent woman who sometimes makes bad decisions and isn’t afraid to speak her mind, even if it is to her detriment. She also happens to be witty, fast thinking, brave and resourceful. Even when she knows that her life is in danger, she does not back down or walk away. In addition to the main character, the Authors have created well rounded interesting characters who seem very real due to their flaws and actions. All of the characters are likable even when they are doing not so likable things. Plus, as I mentioned in the previous paragraph, each one of these character could be the killer.

Jane is telling the story to the reader which is an interesting storytelling technique which really worked for me. The pacing of this book was fast. There was never a dull moment. I literally sat and read this entire book in one day. There are quite a few characters in this book, but that does not confuse the storytelling in any way. This book was full of twist, turns, suspense and some romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
