This is actually not the first book in the series, it is the sixth but it did read well as a stand alone novel for me.

We have all heard about doppelgangers, right? Growing up, I was told that somewhere in the world there was someone who looked just like me. Was that supposed to make me feel better or creep me out? Either way, I didn’t buy it. But what would happen if one day you were walking down the street someone you have never met comes up to you and begins talking as if you are friends? Who tells you that you looks EXACTLY like someone you know! Intriguing, right?

That is what happens in this book. Gina and Dani have never met before. But after a chance meeting with a woman on the street who mistook one for the other, they correspond online and decide to meet. They are immediately intrigues – the DO look just like each other. So much so that they begin to think that they are twins. It could be likely, they are both adopted. What if?

But what if, someone did not want them meeting? What if someone did not want the truth to come out. Ahh…herein lies the mystery of this book. Once they meet in person and take a DNA test, strange things start happening and they contact the Forensics Instincts investigators and learn that there is definitely someone out there with a huge secret, someone willing to do anything to keep the secrets of the past from being known in the present day. But wait, there is more! This is where you need to read the book to find out the rest.

I enjoyed this book. As I mentioned, it works very well as a stand alone novel. I possibly may have enjoyed this book more had I read the other books in the series, possibly. I thought this book had good pacing and did not feel rushed or overly long. So why not a higher rating from me. Although, I enjoyed this book, I really did not feel connected to any of the characters. As I mentioned, maybe if I had read the previous books, I would feel some connection but nope none from me. I am sure that fans of this series will love this book. There is nothing wrong with it. It is enjoyable and entertaining. I would go so far as to even say that fans of mysteries who do not like violence, gore, explicit scenes will enjoy this book. It is on the more tame side for a mystery/thriller.

One thing I really appreciated about this book is that the characters are behaved in believable ways. This is the first time I have read this Author and I would be willing to read more of her books in the future.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Andrea Kane, Simon & Schuster and the Life of a Book Addict group for the opportunity to read this book
