I Highly recommend this book.

I picked up this book after reading the review of a friend. I have to say her Review was spot on.

Some books are just fun and light, some stay with us after we read them, some terrify us, some touch us, some we can relate to, some take us to far away places and some contain magic. This book, although not magical in nature, transported me from Los Angeles to a small town in California. I felt I was living there with them. This book – well I could relate to some of it. This book was touching, I admit, I read it way too fast because I did not want to put it down and darn it, I hated when it ended.

This book is a wonderfully written book about 2 young people dealing with their own issues growing up in a small town. This is a book I could relate to. I could relate to the female character of Skylar. Like her, I grew up in a small town where you were either related to everyone in town or you knew them(and they knew everything about you). Where college was a dream, an escape, the only way to get out of Dodge and do something with your life. Boy could I relate to that.

The other main character is Josh. A hometown boy who comes back from serving as a Marine after suffering a wound in battle that left him an amputee.

I loved how the Author told the story from both their points of view. I thought she did a good job, helping us relate to each character. They are flawed – but there is beauty in imperfections.

No one is perfect in this book and that is the beauty of it. The Characters feel real. They do real things, they make mistakes and gosh darn it, I rooted for them the entire time.
