I never considered myself a short stories fan. I have always preferred novels; however, lately I have read a lot of good books containing short stories and this book was one of them. Accents of Horror is a collection of short stories: A Stranger in the Rain, Headlights, Dinner with Death by Chris Snider and The Comeback by Ellen Maze. My book also included a sneak peek at another work by Chris Snider titled The Preacher.
Would you pick up a hitchhiker on a rainy dark night?
What would you do if death joined you for dinner?
What if you saw headlights approaching you late and night and they disappeared?
What if the man who took your job sat down beside you at a diner?
The four stories evoke feelings of dread, are eerie, and suspenseful. My two favorites are A stranger in the Rain and Dinner with Death.
This collection of short stories are well written and entertaining. They are of the horror genre but there is nothing too horrific in them. I think they will appeal to just about everyone. There is nothing graphic or gory in these stories. I liken them to a Twilight Zone episode.
A very entertaining and fast read.
I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
